Large art glass vase from the "Ariel Cloud" series designed by Olle Alberius for Orrefors, Sweden, in 1978. During the 1970s and 1980s, Swedish designer Olle Alberius collaborated with the prestigious Swedish brand Orrefors, where he produced his best designs, such as the one we show. His experimental approach is seen in the Ariel technique he employed in his most iconic pieces. Inblue and light blue glass with a layer of very thick crystalline glass, it has been decorated internally with motifs depicting clouds, wind and rain.

Olle Alberius was a Swedish designer and glass artist. Between 1957 and 1965, Alberius worked in Strömstad as a designer at SYCO, where he designed a large number of tableware, figurines, vases and bowls. In 1965, Alberius' wife passed away and Olle moved to Rörstrand; between '63 and '65 he worked at both SYCO and Rörstrand. From 1963 to 1971, Alberius was connected with the Rörstrand porcelain factory, where he worked with artistic ceramics and flint and feldspar porcelain ware. From 1971 he worked at the Orrefors glassworks, where he designed classic tableware such as Victoria (1978) and Erik (1974), art glass in Ariel and Grail technique, and cut glass sculptures. Alberius created the bowl for Our United Water, whose aim was to unite water from all countries of the world for the Globe Tree. It now exists and will be delivered to UNEP in 2022, on the 50th anniversary of its creation. Alberius is represented at the National Museum in Stockholm.
