The illustrator and painter Miguel Gayo Perez began his career in the early 50's collaborating with the publishing house Escelicer, Ediciones Ensayos and Hispano Americana de Ediciones. He worked several times in collaboration with Marisa Villardefrancos and in the 70's he emigrated to Latin America, where he lived in Peru and Ecuador. From 1967 to 1969, in Lima, he was director of Intima, the Peruvian women's magazine. He was a friend of Oswaldo Viteri and Oswaldo Guayasamín and teacher of portraitist Jaime Zapata, among many others.
