Manuel Tovar was a cartoonist and caricaturist. He collaborated in Madrid Cómico, Gedeón, La Correspondencia de España, El Liberal, ABC, El Sol, La Voz, La Esfera, Blanco y Negro, Nuevo Mundo, Mundo Gráfico, Buen Humor, El Imparcial, La Hoja de Parra, Gutiérrez, La Risa, ¡Oiga usted...!, Heraldo de Madrid, España Nueva, La Bandera Federal and Don Quijote, among others. He participated in the short novel collection El Cuento Semanal. He also did most of the caricatures on the cover of the collection La Novela Teatral, published between 1916 and 1925, and its continuation, the collection Comedias.
