DESCRIPTION
LUIS PALAO ORTUBIA (Zaragoza, 1863-?).

Measurements: 18 x 28 cm (irregular); 33 x 42 cm (frame).
Painter and illustrator of literary works. He studied at the School of Fine Arts in Zaragoza between 1873 and 1881 and then in Madrid. He participated in the Aragonese Exhibition of 1885-86, obtaining a second class medal for his painting "Hoy por unos, mañana por otros" (Today for some, tomorrow for others). He was a recognized and prolific illustrator of novels, novelas and story books for publishers such as Calleja and Sopena. Palao knew how to give a personal stamp to these Sopena books, as can be seen in this charismatic drawing from the dawn of the 20th century. There is no lack of humor, as shown in the stuffed fox in the scarf that seems to have come to life.
