Drawer and painter, Joan Commeleran was formed in the School of Arts and Trades of Barcelona. He was one of the founders of the Group of Independent Artists, and a member of the Montjuic Salon. During the post-war period he devoted himself especially to religious mural painting (chapel of the Santísimo de Santa María del Mar, Barcelona, 1945). He also illustrated books, such as "Ruta de Santiago" (1965).
