Disciple of Félix Mestres, José María Vidal-Quadras participated in all the National Exhibitions between 1920 and 1926. In the Museu d'Art Modern de Barcelona there are four of his works representing interiors with female characters. A work entitled Curiosilla, which represents a girl leaning out of a window and which won the third medal at the National Exhibition of Fine Arts in 1922, was sent to the Prado from the now defunct Museum of Modern Art.
