The exquisiteness of the tender tableware lies in the impeccable work of decoration of each of its pieces. Its honeycombed profiles are defined by a golden fillet reinforced by flower garlands, foliated elements and rhomboidal motifs. Some of its plates feature the bottom embellished with realistic fish.

The history of Haviland begins in 1842, when David Haviland (a merchant who had already created a ceramics importing company in New York) made Limoges the porcelain capital of the world. In 1853, he won a gold medal at the Crystal Palace Exhibition in New York and, later, the French government rewarded his talent by awarding him a silver medal at the Paris Universal Exhibition of 1855. In 1864 Havillan became the most important French porcelain manufacturer internationally due to the improvement of decorative techniques and the use of revolutionary machines. Its success was so resounding that its clients included the wife of Napoleon III, Empress Eugénie, President Jacques Chirac, Prince Rainier of Monaco, as well as Presidents Roosevelt and Lincoln. The most talented designers, painters and sculptors of their time, such as Bracquemond, Dammouse, Suzanne Lalique, Gauguin, Dufy, Sandoz, Kandinsky and Dali, have contributed to the reputation and history.
