Spectator and privileged protagonist of the transformation that will live the Bisbal ceramics from the mid-forties and throughout the second half of the twentieth century, Josep Vilà Clara died in 1989 and his legacy is an extensive ceramic work of great category. His main merit is, undoubtedly, having been able to become, without inherited knowledge and in a totally self-taught way (relying only on his own creativity, mastery of drawing and spirit of research), a consummate potter, responsible for introducing new elements of form and color in the traditional ceramics of Biscay that achieved a renovation, always faithful to the past, of this popular pottery, achieving, with his products, an excellent execution and an artistic category much more than remarkable.
