BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Figure gallant. Germany, 19th century.
Glazed porcelain.
With porcelain stamp on the base.
Measures: 31 x 14 cm; 7 x 16 cm (base).
Sculpture made of polychrome and glazed porcelain representing a man wearing a hat and holding a cockerel in his hands. It has a delicate style, with soft, warm finishes and naturalistic gestures and movements. The subject has been treated from a bucolic perspective, due to the manner and aptitude of the figure.
It should be noted that the main figure is leaning on a hollow trunk, possibly a vase. The mark that can be seen in the lower area in the shape of an arrow is similar to the one used by the Giesshübel Pottery and Porcelain Factory, Germany, 1803-1828.
