Grands Échezeaux is an appellation d'origine contrôlée and Grand Cru in the Côte de Nuits, within the Burgundy wine region. Created as an appellation in 1936, Grands Échezeaux is considered better than its neighbour Échezeaux. The main grape variety grown in this appellation is pinot noir, although the regulation allows up to a maximum of 15% of chardonnay, pinot blanc and pinot gris, although these varieties are hardly ever added to Grand Cru Burgundy wine.
