DESCRIPTION

Louis XV style table clock; France last quarter of the nineteenth century.
Gilded and patinated bronze with enameled porcelain in the manner of Sèvres.
It has Brocot suspension.
Preserves pendulum and key.
It has slight flaws.
Measurements: 51 x 50 x 20 cm.
Table clock made of gilded and patinated bronze, decorated on the base with applied enameled porcelain plates in the manner of Sévres. The base responds to a baroque inspiration, with a mixtilinear plan very moved and profusely decorated with elements in relief. The sphere is located in the center of the piece, surpassing, in height, the base. It presents Roman numerals in cobalt blue on a white background and golden and openwork hands. The clock is topped by a sculptural group of gallant style with friendly theme starring a young lady playing the lyre or harp and a lovebird with two flutes.
The bronze table clocks of the 20th century were key pieces in decoration and interior design, as well as symbols of social status and refinement. Elaborately crafted and often adorned with artistic motifs, these clocks not only served to measure time, but also reflected the technical advances and taste for fine craftsmanship of the era. Bronze, a durable and aesthetically appreciated material, allowed the creation of complex and elegant forms, integrating styles such as neoclassical or rococo, which made them highly valued objects in the residences of high society.

COMMENTS

It has Brocot suspension. It preserves pendulum and key. It has slight faults.
