Self-taught, in Alejos' painting we can see influences of various stylistic currents, such as pop art, naif or Japanese ukiyo-e. They are pure color spots, well defined, that play with each other harmoniously creating subtle landscapes. They bring back memories of past masters...of the Japanese Hiroshige and Hokusai, of Matisse and his cut-out colored paper, of Van Gogh and his colorful landscapes, and even of the more recent American paintings of Hockney.
