Painter and author of animated films, Anna Miquel studied Fine Arts at the Escuela Superior de Sant Jordi, in her native Barcelona, between 1967 and 1971. The following year, in 1972, she held her first solo exhibition, showing her paintings at the Centro de Arte Joven in the same city. In parallel, between 1971 and 1973 he worked at the old Moro Studios in Barcelona with director Robert Balser on the cartoon series "The Jackson Five". He also made several animated shorts that won him awards in Spain, Iran and Mexico. In 1974 he made a trip to the United States, where he furthered his training by taking a course in graphic arts at the State University of Dallas (Texas). On her return to Barcelona, she alternated her painting exhibitions with her work in animated films, winning several mentions and awards in both disciplines. In 1979 she obtained a teaching position at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Barcelona, where she obtained the degree of Doctor and the position of professor of drawing with the profile of Animation. Until 2010 Miquel taught painting, drawing, animation cinema, masters and doctoral courses in these disciplines. In parallel, his pictorial activity has led him to hold numerous solo exhibitions and to participate in many group exhibitions, as well as in national and international art fairs. She has also collaborated with renowned architects as a consultant, created the set for the dance show "Corola", by Àngels Margarit, and has designed book covers and advertising posters. In the latter field, her 1992 poster for the Mercè festivities in Barcelona stands out. In recent years, Miquel has extended her work to literature, publishing the juvenile book "Los exploradores en la Luna". She is currently professor emeritus at the University of Barcelona, and continues to paint, exhibit, write and make animated films. She is represented in the Coca-Cola, Antonio Vilacasas, Ernesto Ventós and La Caixa Foundations, as well as in the Banc de Sabadell, Raffel Pagés, Kim Esteve and Boehringer Ingelheim Spain collections.
