Painter and engraver, Antonio Alegre was formed in the School of Fine Arts of San Carlos, in Valencia. He has been awarded the Engraving Prize of the General Direction of Fine Arts of Madrid, the Africa Prize of Madrid, the Señera Prize of the City Council of Valencia, the Prize of the Diputación de Castellón and the First Prize of Painting of the Güell Foundation of Barcelona. He taught at the Universities of Valencia and Barcelona, and is represented in the National Museum of Contemporary Art, the National Chalcography of Madrid, the Vatican Museum, the Istituto Nazionale per la Grafica in Rome, the National Art Museum of Catalonia, the Fine Arts Museum and the City Museum in Valencia, the Contemporary Art Museum of Vilafamés and the Bancaja Collection, among other public and private institutions.
