We are in front of a portrait of a lady of the XIX century, represented in three quarters and in a rigid position, seated and looking at the spectator. The woman, with details that make it clear that she is a lady of a good position in the society of the time, is wearing a distinguished dress and a hat. Her head is resting on her hand in a thoughtful, reflective pose, in which the artist seems not to be trying to recreate the appearance of the subject, but rather the character of the person.
