Sculptor and poet, although he also worked in painting and drawing, Ignacio Bayarri Lluch, known as Nassio, trained with his father, Josep Maria Bayarri, at the School of Arts and Crafts in Valencia and at the Academy of Fine Arts of San Carlos in the same city, obtaining in 1952 the Extraordinary End of Degree Prize. In 1989 he was made a full member of San Carlos, in 1996 he was awarded the Gold Medal of the Círculo de Bellas Artes and in 2010 he received the Distinction for Cultural Merit from the Generalitat Valenciana. He has also been awarded the National Sculpture Medal on three occasions, as well as the Gold Medal at Indian Hill.
