Measurements:

Buddha head of Chinese origin, specifically from Guangzhou. It dates from the 13th century and presents a remarkable quality and refinement in its manufacture. The serenity of the face is achieved through the symmetry of the physiognomic features. The half-closed eyelids (only a slit allows us to see his eyes) symbolizes meditation. The elongated earlobes denote nobility and wisdom. The eyebrows form two perfect arches and the closed mouth presents a sinuous and sensual profile. The headdress, carefully carved, shows in its center a representation of Buddha, surrounded by eggs. Thus, in this meticulously executed Buddha's head, we identify several lakshana specific to the iconographic representation of Buddhas and bodhisattvas of sacred significance, such as the eyelids folded, a symbol of spiritual concentration and also of purity, due to its similarity to the petals of the lotus. Likewise, the dot on the Buddha's forehead identifies the possessor of a supernatural vision, which transcends the external gaze and penetrates into the abysses of the soul.
