Carpet used for horseback riding, made of wool and cotton. The Chinese carpets of the Qing Dynasty (1644 - 1911) are very appreciated pieces by collectors, for their designs, knots and colors. They are made with natural dyes, and in this case you can appreciate very intense colors such as green or red, which despite time have not lost their liveliness and brightness. One of the most important characteristics of antique Chinese carpets is that they were all made by hand and in the homes of the artisans. Wool carpets were rarely used for the floor, where felt and matted carpets were laid, as they would have easily deteriorated due to the intense heat and high humidity during the summer. Being regions where the best wool in the world is produced, the quality of the carpets was exceptional. Natural dyes from plants, animals or minerals were used for the patterns. Wool carpets were the favorite of the Chinese people because of their softness, durability and brightness. They were mainly used to cover the benches of the temples, to pray or to hang on the walls. The colors and patterns depended on the region where they were made.
