The Enono or Asumbi sword is a type of traditional weapon originating from the region of the Democratic Republic of Congo, specifically used by several peoples of the Ngala ethnic group. This type of sword is known both for its functionality and for its symbolic and cultural value within Congolese societies. The blade is made of hand-forged metal. The handle or hilt is made of wood, providing a firm grip. Plant fibers, such as raffia, are used to decorate the hilt, wrapped around the handle to enhance the grip and add aesthetic detail. These swords are an example of how everyday objects can transcend their practical function to become manifestations of a people's cultural and spiritual heritage.
