In timed auctions: each lot has a fixed ending time that is only affected by the amount of bids it receives in the last few minutes but not by the status of other lots in the same auction. This means that once the counter is started, it is maintained until the time runs out.
On the other hand, in live auctions: lots are auctioned and closed sequentially, following a set order. The time for each lot can be extended if new bids are received, and as soon as one lot closes, the completion counter for the next lot starts running. This creates a more exciting and active dynamic during the auction.
