Château-Grillet is one of the smallest appellations in France and also one of the most prestigious. The vineyards are spread over two communes: Saint-Michel-sur-Rhône and Vérin and are situated on terraces on the steep granite cliffs surrounding the estate, where the soil is lighter and more fragmented than in the AOC Condrieu.
