BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Liquor cabinet; France, c 1860.
Wood. Cut and gilt glass.
Complete original glassware.
There is a break in the base and some missing pieces in the wood.
Measurements: 27 x 33 x 24 cm.
Liquor box made of wood, which presents a simple design and straight lines with a rectangular structure. The piece has a sober decoration based on the expressiveness of the material, but it also has ornamental elements on the front, both on the body and on the lid, which have a classicist-inspired design, based on geometric ornaments.
The set is completed by several transparent glass goblets and four decanters. All the glass elements, glasses and tumblers, are decorated with carved and gilded ornamentation, combining a geometric carved design with vegetal ornamentation in gilding. These types of boxes were very common at the time, making them a basic and practical type of box that could be used both in the home and on the move.
