DESCRIPTION
JORGE GALINDO (Madrid, 1965).
"Carmen de Veracruz". 2001.
Mixed media on paper.

Measurements: 100 x 70 cm; 119 x 89 cm (frame).
Jorge Galindo began exhibiting his work in the mid-eighties and since the beginning of his career, he has been using different artistic techniques, mainly painting and photographic collage. Although gestural abstraction occupies a large part of his work, which gives great importance to the gesture, the stain, the splash, the material aspect, in short, the photomontage, in which he has often worked since the nineties, he introduces the figurative aspect and the "pop" reference. The artist often uses images from the media of the fifties and sixties, thus introducing a critique of capitalist and consumer society. In the nineties he also introduces the word through texts that convey ironic messages or metalinguistic reflections and at the end of the nineties he starts to work also with the addition of fabrics. His first solo exhibition was held at the Victor Martin Gallery in Madrid, later he exhibited in other galleries such as Soledad Lorenzo or Espacio Uno of MNACARS.
