MIQUEL LLABRÉS GRIMALT (Manacor, 1930 - Palma, 1983).
"Marina, Mallorca. 1958
Oil on canvas.
Signed in the lower left corner.
Measurements: 50 x 60,5 cm; 64 x 75 cm (frame).
Disciple of Ramón Nadal, Miquel Llabrés specialized in painting landscapes, very evocative and reflective. He inaugurated the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Balaguer and founded the Galería Bearn in La Palma. In 1980 he was appointed member of the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of San Sebastian. The artist's extensive production can be divided into different stages: the so-called "of the French grays" (1958-1966) developed during his trips to Paris and Bordeaux; that of Castile (1967-1970) with works from Toledo, Avila and Burgos and the so-called "of the whites" (1973-1982) with landscapes of Ibiza, Menorca and Mallorca. Among the prizes obtained are the Medal of Honor of the Salón de Otoño de Palma in 1961 and 1969, and the third Medal of the Salón de Otoño de Madrid in 1966.
