BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Bargueño; Italy, late seventeenth century.
Ebonized wood, engraved bone and tortoiseshell simile.
Presents restorations.
Measurements: 71 x 76 x 28 cm.
Italian bargueño of uncovered sample and prismatic structure that sits on four chamfered ball feet with the design of a claw in the upper area. The decoration is concentrated on the front, divided into three sections. The lateral ones house four equal drawers, with the front ornamented with rectangular and quadrangular veneers in tortoiseshell simile. The piece stands out for its compositional clarity through the signaling of the different parts of the structure, an aspect that demonstrates that we are dealing with an advanced baroque bargueño, tending towards the purification of the forms, without excesses in the ornamentation. The central street, on the other hand, has an architecturally inspired design with the representation of a knight in the center. Inside, this compartment has four drawers. The sides of the cabinet are free of decoration and have a handle on each side.
