Dreamlike landscape populated with birds of different species (a hen, a peacock, geese...), following models of the Dutch painter of animalistic genre Melchior d'Hondecoeter. The author of the painting in question takes up the dynamic still life model of the Flemish Baroque period. The painter focuses on the expressiveness of the animals, as well as on the bucolic description of the lake landscape with hints of classical ruins.
