Leonetto Cappiello was one of the most outstanding illustrators of the first decades of the 20th century, especially recognized by his posters although he also cultivated the painting and the caricature. Settled in Paris since the end of the 19th century, he is considered one of the great renovators of the poster in France. Today, examples of his work can be found in outstanding collections such as those of the Louvre and Orsay Museums in Paris, the MOMA in New York and the National Gallery in Washington, D.C.
