Chalice and paten made entirely in silver, dated XVI and XVII centuries, with punches in the base. This is an example of Spanish silverware of the refined Baroque period, characterized by the prominence of the structure in the first place: the decoration is conceived only as a complement to it, a maxim typical of any classical language. The chalice model used in the Spanish refined baroque follows a clearly differentiated model with a stepped foot in three levels, a stem with a shaft structure around a central knot. In the piece presented here we notice a tendency to round the forms that shows the influence of the decorative baroque, especially in the central knot of the shaft. The inside of the cup is gilded, and this finish also covers the upper part on the outside, continuing with the horizontal stratification.
