The firm Audouard y Cía. has its origin in the figure of Pablo Audouard (1856-1919), a photographer well known for his portraits and also for his work as official photographer of the Universal Exposition of Barcelona in 1888. The Universal Exposition gave Audouard a boost to his work in his photographic studio, Audouard y Cía., but also the opportunity to carry out other projects such as the commission from the MZA company in 1890 to document the railroad infrastructure works between La Zaida and Reus, as well as a series of aerial photographs of the Port of Barcelona, taken from a balloon installed on the exhibition site, and which are considered the first shots of it from the air. On the other hand, he also made numerous portraits, which were in fact his main source of income.
