BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
Persian carpet. Bidjar, Iran, 20th century.
Hand-knotted wool.
Measurements: 156 x 102 cm.
Hand-knotted wool rug featuring a red field decorated with simplified vegetal and floral elements arranged around a central lobed poly lobed motif and in reserved areas towards the corners. The border is composed of bands.
Bidjar carpets get their name from the Kurdish locality located in western Iran. This type of carpet is characterized by its strength and durability, characteristics that are acquired because the manufacturers use metal and wood combs to compact the knots in the weft. This prevents particles, such as dust, from getting into the weave.
