The Grandini stamp does not correspond to a renowned individual bowmaker, but to a commercial brand used in workshops in Mirecourt, France, mainly to produce bows for advanced or semi-professional musicians. Similar to brands such as "Laberte" or "JTL".
A well-preserved Grandini pernambuco bow offers good balance, flexibility and a sensitive sound response, being suitable for advanced players.
Violin bows are traditionally made from pernambuco (or paubrasil) wood, a material recognized for its combination of hardness, elasticity and lightness, which are essential qualities for a bow that needs flexibility and strength. This wood comes from the Paubrasilia echinata tree, native to Brazil, and has been the preferred choice since the 18th century because of its ability to transmit vibrations and respond precisely to the violinist's movements.
