BID HISTORY
DESCRIPTION
FERNANDO CAMPANA (Brazil, 1961) AND HUMBERTO CAMPANA (Brazil, 1953).
"Favela chair", design 1991.
Pine wood.
Measurements: 75 x 62,5 x 64,5 cm.
The Favela chair is made with many strips of natural pine wood. The strips are nailed one on top of the other by hand, in a random arrangement that makes each chair different from the others.
Fernando and Humberto Campana, born in 1961 and 1953 respectively, established Estudio Campana in 1983, marking a turning point in contemporary design. Their approach focuses on the use of unconventional materials, creating unique pieces that stand out for their transformative and experimental character. Through their work, they give new life to elements such as pieces of wood, leftover fabrics, plastic tubes, cables and even stuffed toys, fusing art and functionality.
