Louis XVI style lamp; France, early twentieth century.
Bronze and brass.
Measurements: 56 x 13 cm; 80 cm (total height).
Table lamp with pleated red fabric shade and bronze and brass shaft. This has been conceived as a classic column, with a large base as a pedestal of pure lines and sharp edges and finally fluted shaft.
As usual in the 20th century, the influence of examples from Greek and Roman antiquity is clear, but combining these details to adapt them to the taste and purpose that would be intended in the century in which they would be created.
