JOAN SEGURANYES (Vic, Barcelona, 1932).
"Rest".
Bronze. Wooden base.
Signed.
Work catalogued in the book "Col-lecció d'Artistes de Casa Nostra Joan Segurañes" by M. Àngels Ferrer, Pag 54 i 55 - Nº1 d 6.
Measurements: 46 x 31 x 18 cm.
Heir of the noucentisme and faithful to the figurative style in all his artistic expressions, the sculptures of Seguranyes show feminine figures, elegant nudes, deepening, humanizing and highlighting all the splendor of the corporal beauty without forgetting the soul. The woman captured naturally, with an intimate touch, always serene.
Joan Segurañes trained with his father, Jaime Segurañes, in the field of sculpture and attended classes at the Municipal School of Drawing and Sculpture in Vic and the School of Arts and Crafts in Barcelona. In this city he worked with Camps Arnau and, on occasion, with José Clarà. His work is characterized by his female nudes, within the line of the Catalan Noucentisme. Technically, except for a sculpture of Saint Peter in stone, he has worked mainly with clay and bronzes. He has participated in contests and collective exhibitions since 1960: Sabadell, Reus, Barcelona, Alicante, San Lorenzo del Escorial, Sitges, Tarragona, etc. Seguranyes' works can be found today in different spaces in places such as Vilafranca del Penedès, Centelles, Prats de Lluçanès, Montseny, Vic (Cathedral) or Barcelona (Sagrada Familia). Represented at the MEAM, Barcelona.
