DESCRIPTION

Art Deco ice bucket; Belgium; second third of XX century
Carved wood and silver
Presents punches, possibly by Leon Picquot.
Measurements: 20 x 40 x 31 cm.

Ice bucket with upper profile and foot in carved wood, this first one simulating a drape that falls subtly on the deposit, made in silver.

The concept of keeping wine and beer at low temperatures is not a recent one.

Although some models existed before 1770, the production of wine coolers intensified from the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 19th century. With the development of refrigeration, which facilitated the frequent transport of ice, these objects gained popularity, especially for social events, and became symbols of hospitality. Today, they are still used in places such as bars, hotels and restaurants.
