Scene of work the author presents us an image of impressionist heritage, in which the pictorial matter defines the whole scenario, determining a landscape of colors, reflections and shades full of vibration and expressiveness. The author shows us through the use of a loose and wide brushstroke, a port, in which all the elements are defined.
Pierre Jean Baptiste Louis Dumont, better known as Pierre Dumont, was a French painter of the Rouen School. He studied at the Lycée Pierre-Corneille and later studied painting with Joseph Delattre. Dumont founded the Groupe des XXX (1907) and, together with Robert Antoine Pinchon, Yvonne Barbier and Eugène Tirvert, founded the Société Normande de Peinture Moderne (1909). From 1910 to 1916, Dumont lived in Le Bateau-Lavoir and became friends with Juan Gris, Max Jacob and Guillaume Apollinaire. During this period he turned towards Cubism and played a crucial role in the organization of the Salon de la Section d'Or at the Galerie La Boétie in Paris.
