The author of this painting is based for its conception and treatment in his knowledge of the Spanish tradition of the genre, which has its roots in the masters of the seventeenth century. In this way, he evidences the sober and contained knowledge of the Hispanic tradition. As usual in the Baroque still life, key to the development of the genre in the 19th century, the fruits are vividly illuminated, highlighted against a dark and neutral background that balances the composition and enhances the corporeality, the physical presence of the fruits and vegetables.
