Table clock; France, c. 1850.
Gilded bronze.
No key or pendulum.
Measurements: 35 x 30 x 10 cm.
Table clock with gilded bronze structure, historicist style inspired by French art of the Baroque period. It consists of a high pedestal of organic design with sides in form of volute, decorated in the front with a profuse work in relief composing a strictly symmetrical baroque design, based on tornapuntas, palmettes and big leaves. On this pedestal is placed the watch case with a white dial, black Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes and Breguet hands. The upper area of the case is topped by the representation of a lady of the French court of the seventeenth century, dressed in an elegant costume.
