DESCRIPTION
Portico clock Charles X; France, c. 1820.
Ebonized wood and mercury gilt bronze applications.
It has slight flaws in the dial.
Measurements: 48 x 25 x 14 cm.
Table clock of portico type, made of ebonized wood and bronze, following the French models of the Charles X period, from the beginning of the 19th century. It presents a refined architectural structure, of Empire heritage, with rounded volumes of sharp edges, with no other decoration than the applied bronzes. On the base there is a chiseled and openwork plaque with classical motifs, matching the one that adorns the entablature. The clock dial is also made of bronze, decorated with a border of acanthus in the profile and a central rosette, and has breguet hands and Roman numerals in black.
