This table clock has a sculptural design ornamented at the base with floral reliefs in gilded bronze. The structure rests on four small legs also in gilded bronze. In the central body of this clock stands a beautiful sculptural group starring Cupid, a woman and a male bust on the clock case. The decorativeness of the piece is enhanced by the beautiful gilded bronze work with appliqués located next to the clock face. Formally, it highlights the figuration directly inspired by ancient classical art, a constant reference in the arts of this period.
The piece follows the Louis XVI stylistic patterns, appreciable in the use of classicist sculptures worked in round bulk. The dial, enameled in white, presents Arabic numerals. Formally, the figuration is directly inspired by ancient classical art, a constant reference in the arts of this period. The biscuit technique, used in this piece, offers a matte and very white finish to the pieces, began to be used in the mid-eighteenth century, especially in France, in the factory of Sèvres, and in Italy, in the Royal Factory of Capodimonte.
