DESCRIPTION

Watch LONGINES Chronometer "RÄTT TID", ca. 1940, serial no. 92561XX.
Circular case in gilded brass. White dial with applied hour markers. Sword type hands. Hand-wound caliber. 17 jewels.
Originally it was a display watch emulating a hand watch. No wooden base or suspension.
Slight flaws in the dial and gilding. Needs to be overhauled.
Measurements: 2.5 x 9 x 9.5 cm.

During the 1940s Longines supplied independent retail stores with "Exact Time" clocks, table-top chronometers that were usually displayed in shop windows and intended to allow passersby to set their private watches as they walked past the store. Thus, for those who lived in cities, these clocks had, for many years, real practical value.
