Laban Pen Corporation was founded in 1981, when John Hu partnered with his brother Charles to build their own manufacturing facility with the goal of producing the highest quality rhodium-plated and silver-plated writing instruments. In 1993 they introduced their Filigree line of overlay metal pens using a specialized engraving process, establishing themselves as a major international manufacturer.
