The Sheaffer Royal Selangor Bamboo is made of Pewter, an alloy composed mainly of tin, with small amounts of copper to give it hardness, lead to give it a bluish tone and, sometimes, some antimony. Depending on the proportions of these components, there are different types of Pewter.

This material, similar to silver, has been traditionally used in tableware since the Middle Ages.

This pen is a Sheaffer Special Edition, created in collaboration with Royal Selangor Pewter Factory, a Malaysian company specialized in the manufacture of pewter. It features a design of bamboo leaves and stems in relief, and its 18-carat nib is extra-fine and slightly flexible.

It went into production in 1996 and was discontinued in 1997.

Fountain pens are Sheaffer's specialty. The very creation of the brand in 1913 was based on a patent related to fountain pens: the lever system.
