This fountain pen celebrates the XVI Commonwealth Games, which were held in Kuala Lumpur. The 1998 Pelikan Kuala Lumpur Limited Edition, with only 888 units, is based on a regular production M800, to which some special modifications have been made.

The cap, made of black cellulose acetate, features the brand's emblem: a pelican in its nest with two chicks, engraved on a gold-plated button on the crown. The serial number is engraved on the ring of this crown, and the clip, characteristic for its pelican beak shape, is complemented by two vermeil silver rings on the cap: a thin one at the top and a wider one at the bottom, where the inscriptions "PELIKAN", "GERMANY" and "Ag 925" are read.

The body of the pen has a black acetate charging system butt, adorned with two gold-plated rings and a gold-plated terminal button. The central body is solid silver, decorated with two wide bands of antiqued bas-relief, showing a diamond pattern. Between these bands, there is a plain section where, by means of bas-relief and antiqued treatment, two Bunga Raya (hibiscus) flowers, the national symbol of Malaysia, are engraved, as well as the inscription "KUALA LUMPUR 98" and, underneath, "XVI COMMONWEALTH GAMES". The ink window is a transparent green, and the section is also black acetate with a gold-plated rim.

The nib, in 18K two-tone gold and of medium thickness, completes this exclusive design. The loading system is by means of a plunger.
