This pen is dedicated to the foundation of the city of Rhodes in 408 BC, when the three city-states of the island were united: Ialysos to the north, Lindos to the east and Kamiros to the west, all ruled at the time by the so-called "grandsons of Helios", the sun god. These cities founded the capital of the island on the northern tip, which they called Rhodes, thus giving the name to this sunny and fertile island.

The "Colossus of Rhodes" fountain pen was manufactured in 2005 and is limited to 408 pieces. This pen pays tribute to a unique technical and artistic masterpiece, both in size and magnificence. The bronze statue of the Greek god Helios, the revered sun god and patron saint of the island of the same name, was created with exceptional architectural and artistic skill. Only specially selected materials were used for its construction, such as marble for the pedestal, iron for the inner frame and bronze, partially finished with gold, for the outer surface.

The Pelikan fountain pen, which like its historical model is partially made of bronze, combines traditional craftsmanship with the highest quality design and outstanding technical expertise. This exclusive writing instrument is presented in an artistically designed case, reminiscent of the stylized harbor of Rhodes, where the statue of the Colossus is said to have once stood.
