Rafael Guerrero Céspedes was born in the Peruvian city of Piura. He currently lives and works in Copenhagen. He graduated in Fine Arts at the University of Barcelona (2011), after studying Industrial Design at PUCP (Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú). . In 2011 he won the Torres García City of Mataró Painting Prize, a prestigious competition organized by the Associació Sant Lluc per l'Art. In 2009 he received the Miquel Viladrich Prize, Lleida. He is represented in collections of the Cambra de la Propietat Urbana de Barcelona, the Museum/Tecnocampus de Mataró and the Principal de Torrelameu, Lleida. His wandering life taught him to fill the dead times of waiting with fragmentary pictorial narratives, provided with a certain element of suspense hidden behind the banal appearance of transit scenarios. Sometimes he filters in his landscapes veiled and ironic comments on the relativity of borders.
