BID HISTORY

DESCRIPTION

FUMIKO NEGISHI (Tokyo, 1970).
"Dangerous plant", 1997.
Oil on canvas glued to board.
Signed in the lower right corner and signed on the back.
Measurements: 38 x 100 cm.
Japanese painter and engraver installed in Spain, Fumiko Negishi is daughter and granddaughter of painters, and disciple of Mitsuo Miura. She trained in Tokyo, where she opted for abstract painting. She graduated in 1993 from the Joshibi University of Art and Design, obtaining the first prize of graduation. Once in Spain she continued her training in the field of engraving, being awarded in the nineties with the prizes of honor and the novel artist of the Calcografía Nacional. Also, in 2009 she was selected in The Vision of Contemporary Art (Tokyo). Between 1997 and 2006 Negishi worked in the studio of Antonio de Felipe, with whom she collaborated for many years.
Currently, after leaving the Valencian artist's studio, Negishi devotes all her time to her own art, evolving from abstraction to open a new path in her work. Her language has since shifted towards portraiture to expand the inner dialogue that abstraction entails, thus communicating with the outside world. As an engraver, she has collaborated with institutions such as the Calcografía Nacional, and in her own words, her work in the world of Abstraction is a discovery of what is in the universe, where emotion is hidden, searching in her work for common emotions that every human being is capable of sharing, reflecting also what the human being is capable of feeling.
