DESCRIPTION

QUIONA RIBES (Castellón de la Plana, 1987).
"Virgin Plays with a Rubik's Cube".
Mixed media on canvas.
With certificate of authenticity signed by the artist.
Measurements: 73 x 50 x 0,2 cm.

This urban artwork presents a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic figure of the Virgin. Instead of her traditional hands in prayer, her arms are extended in a cross, holding a shiny Rubik's cube with mirror effect. The cube symbolizes complexity and modern challenges, reflecting multiple perspectives and solutions. This fusion of classical and contemporary invites reflection on the evolution of spirituality and current challenges, integrating traditional symbolism with elements of the modern world.

Quiona Ribes is an urban artist born in Spain in 1987. It was in Valencia where her interest in urban art was born, and where she carried out pictorial experiments inspired by street art and painters of the late twentieth century. This is how she began to develop her own style. Later she moved to Barcelona to continue her studies in architecture, but a year later she decided to leave aside her profession as an architect to study Applied Wall Arts and later graduated in Art History. Her work, initially impressionist, currently offers a singular and attractive vision where she usually uses a poetic language related to current events, art history and graffiti. She is known for her works made with the urban 'stencil' technique and began to be inspired by artists of the scene like Banksy, Martin Whatson, Keith Haring, Pichiavo, Okuda, Mr.Brainwash, Vhils and other classics such as Leonardo Da Vinci, El Greco or Velázquez. In recent years she has focused on urban art, which has allowed her to become one of the leading women in the sector.
