The lyrical abstraction in which Munuera's work develops is partially inspired by Japanese procedures such as tarashikomi and concepts of Eastern philosophy linked to the vacuum as a carrier of energy. This is expressed in his "nocturnal" paintings, which suggest the idea of flow and layer.

A painter from Murcia based between Valencia and Berlin, Nico Munuera studied Fine Arts at the University of Valencia, finishing his degree in 1999. That same year he attended the course that Joan Hernández Pijuan taught at the Talleres de Paisaje de Blanca, and there a friendship began between the two that would continue until Hernández Pijuan's death in 2004. Munuera, on the other hand, will expand his training thanks to several grants: the Art Visual of Valencia in 2001, the Colegio de España in Paris in 2003, the First Prize Generation'05 Cajamadrid in 2005, the Casa Pintada Foundation in New York in 2007 and the CAM in Berlin in 2011. However, long before these dates Munuera is already presenting his work individually in prominent galleries such as Luis Adelantado in Valencia (1998). Since the late nineties he has held personal exhibitions in Spain, Portugal and Mexico. He has also participated in group exhibitions in Russia, Switzerland, France and the United States. He is currently represented in numerous private collections and foundations, including La Caixa, CAM, Coca Cola, Barrié, Banco Santander, DKV and the art collections of the Communities of Madrid and Murcia.
