With a wide formation (he studied painting and drawing at the Federico Brandt Institute (1988-92); drawing and xylography at the Instituto Universitario de EstudiosSuperiores de Artes Plásticas "Armando Reverón", IUESAPAR (1993 and 1994); encaustic, Venetian technique and gold and silver leaf at the Federico Brandt Institute (1993); lithography and serigraphy in Mexico (1995-96); and a master's degree in visual arts, painting orientation, at the National School of Plastic Arts of the National Autonomous University of Mexico, UNAM, San Carlos Academy (1994-96). Mari Carmen Carrillo has participated in group exhibitions in Cuba, Spain, Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Venezuela. She has also illustrated books. She had her first individual exhibition in 1981 with "Paintings", at the Inocencio Utrera Museum, in Villa de Cura, Aragua State. Throughout his career, he has obtained the following awards: 1st prize, Empresas Mendoza Salon, Caracas (1975); honorable mention, II Turmero Art Salon, Aragua State (1981); and Antonio Caso Silver Medal, UNAM (1998).
